This is the Ever Calm Deer Herd Scent Stick.  This product is a great alternative to liquid scent.  You rub this stick on a tree, rock, maybe a fence post and it will last longer than a traditional liquid.  This seems to me would be idea for scouting and use in front of a game camera.  I plan to put it to use in the near future and see what shows up.

Walnut Grove Hunting Products was kind enough to share this sporting light with our blog.  I've had the light for about a month now and have found several great uses for the light.  It has been in the boat with my family and been used in several applications while fishing.

This was a great application for the "E-Z Cinch Light".

 It works great for situations where you need to be able to use both hands and still support a light.  It's designed to be used on your wrist and has an adjustable/bendable head for just the right angle.  It's very compact and light weight which I've found to be a real asset.  When I pack my gear for the treestand it will most certainly make it in the pack.  Check out their web site for this great little light and other items as well.

Fishing Mobile Bay

I left the house at 4:30 am Saturday morning for some Speckled Trout fishing.  We made it to the launch just before day light and found a bay breeze blowing.  We launched just south of Fairhope pier and headed south past the Grand Hotel and did a little fishing around the piers.  After about an hour of real slow fishing we decide to try the Klondike Reef.  Nothing home at the reef either.

Joe put the boat in the wind and headed to the south side of Gaillard Island to find calm water.  After hooking a few small fish we decided to regroup and get out the cast nets.  The mullet were thick in the bay on Saturday and it didn't take long to catch all we wanted.  After fishing for an hour with the cast nets we stumbled across my nephew Chase Byrd and some of his friends fishing as well.  His group was looking to catch enough fish to put in jars to have for a quick snack for the upcoming hunting season.  We gave them our fish and we went south down to Middle Bay Light House.

It's important to be flexible when fishing and be able to shift on the fly.  At the end of the day we had a succesful trip and caught lots of fish and enjoyed spending time on the water with friends.

And it gets better, Chase jarred the mullet and shared, so when we go deer hunting don't forget the crackers.

Bass Pro Shop is having it's Fall Hunting Classic and on August 10th you can buy in store only the 17' Big Game Ladder Stand for 79.97 after rebate.  That's a great deal on a quality stand.  We purchased several of them a few years ago and the stands have done great.  The stand comes with a back pad and foot rest it also has a shooting rail.
